Here's what I love best about our porch. I love to be able to be outside during the rain.

memorial day

We had a good Memorial Day. We worked a lot of the day trying to get the pool ready. We got the cover off, unplugged all the lines, put things back together, got the pumps running, dumped in chlorine and vacummed the leaves off the bottom. Whew! We have to wait a couple days before we can swim to get the chemicals just right. We picked up a charcoal grill from Sarah's brother and cooked hamburgers and hotdogs on the deck. I have to say that the hamburgers were absolutely perfect.

When I was a kid, our Memorial Day tradition was to all get into our little pick-up (Mom & Dad in the front, 5 kids in the back) and drive to a creek and go wading and swimming. We would have a picnic and play around until we were soaked and muddy and we'd all climb back in the truck and dry out on the ride home. It's good memories and it always makes me want to go for a drive on Memorial Day.

Life has been really busy lately but I'm finding were being more intentional with the time that we have. Sarah started working 3 evenings a week as a nurse so we've had to adjust our schedules around. It's working out ok now but it has definitely pushed me into a different mode. You can't watch movies and eat popcorn 3 nights a week. So, we've been going on bike rides and playing outside and doing a lot of cool stuff. I'm learning some of what moms put up with like fixing dinner with 3 kids pulling on you. We are really enjoying being outside right now. The kids love to play on the porch, climb the trees, chase rabbits and draw on the sidewalk. I think we're going to have a good summer.
