caelan's off the hook

The pencil marks are no longer a problem. Moments after I wrote the last entry I went to help Caelan and heard a crash. Tanner pulled my laptop off of the table. The screen is broken. (sigh)

path of destruction

Tornados are measured by the damage they do. If Caelan was a tornado she would be just below the kind that rip a house off it's foundation. I love my precious princess but she may be preparing for a future in demolition. Here's a couple of the latest examples. I stepped out of a room for a minute only to return to Caelan with a crayon in one hand and a pencil in the other. In front of her was my laptop that she had drawn all over the screen (no, it didn't all come off). Later she comes in saying something about her hand and when I pry her fingers open I see her bloody palm. I run into the living room to figure out what happened and I find a light bulb busted all over the floor (her hand was ok). It seems like every time we turn around she has emptied a laundry basket, trash can or table top. Parenting can be an adventure.

birthday boy

Trevor turned 1! Wow, a year goes by very quickly. Trevor is such a happy guy. He hasn't decided to start walking yet but he could if he just let go. He does stand up on his own without holding on, he just won't take a step. He always stands up if there's music on.

Sarah was out in the front yard the other day when a mom and her two kids walked by. They were getting tired so Sarah asked her if she would like to rest for a bit and let the kids play in the yard. She has a 5 year old boy and he and Tanner started playing. As the mom watched them play she was amazed at how Tanner was doing things so much like her son does. She grew up without any brothers and had not really been around boys. As they played she realized that her son was not weird. Boys are rough. Boys are loud. Boys love to get dirty. Boys are superheros. That's the way God made them. So guys as the warmer weather is here let me encourage you to get outside, go exploring, build something, get dirt under your fingernails! Be what God made you to be.
