laundry at 4am

Caelan came into our room about 3:30am and threw up all over our bed. Many times when things happen with the kids in the night I can take care of it and stay mostly asleep but this time I realized there was no way around it. There was work to do. Sarah went to work on Caelan and I started working on the room. I got the sheets in the washer and made a pile for the cleaners. With all the lights on, Trevor decided it was time to be awake and hyper. Tanner wanted to start working on the yard (which I told him we would do together when we got up). Caelan wouldn't go in the guest room so she and Sarah slept on the futon at the top of the stairs and Tanner, Trevor, and I took the guest room. It was something like a campout by that point. She's doing better today.

little face

So I'm sitting down to write about my day today and I hear this little sound. I peek around the corner and this is what I see; a little face looking at me from the stairs. She's supposed to be in bed. Even though I should be upset with her for getting up again, she's just too cute. She wanted her covers. I had already tucked her in but I think she kicks them off just so I'll have to come up and do it again. As I carried her back up to her room, I had a song running through my head that I had heard on the radio. It's a song about being held by God during hard times. I don't know it real well but I think the basic idea is that God's promise wasn't that He would fix every thing bad that ever happens but that He would be with us and hold us during hard times. I think about how tightly my little girl holds on to me and the security she feels. That's what it's like when the Bible says that God is our Heavenly Father. We can be comforted knowing that He holds us, He will never let go and we don't even have to kick off the covers to get Him to pick us back up.
Monday is my day off so it's a day to spend with the family and get a few things done around the house. We did some cleaning and I played with the kids. Trevor was feeling good today. That's a big relief. He's been sick for weeks. It's so sad because he's such a happy guy so it's really sad when he's grumpy. But he was back in smiley hyper mode.
I ran up to Newton to check on Jenna who got really sick and was in the hospital for a while. I arrived just as she was loading into the car to go home. They invited me to follow them to their house and I got to pray for her. I'm pretty sure she won't remember much of that. She was out.

good start

Well we seem to be having a good start to this whole blogging thing. It was good to see everyone in kids church today. I'm anxious to see who will accept the challenge to learn the books of the Bible. This series is very important for understanding the big story of the Bible.
Here's a new I spy picture. Tell me where you would find this in the church.

Sick Days

Ok so we've been having the sick days. Nobody really bad just days of fussy babies. I'll be sure glad when they're all better.
